a) Ensure representation of members and defend their interests
b) Promote good understanding and solidarity among its members
c) Carry out actions that promote the development of Sciences related to Nutrition and Food, the teaching of Nutrition and Food and the promotion of Nutrition and Food Sciences
d) Carry out the cultural, social and scientific activities related to the Statutory purposes and to promote the divulgation of subjects related to Nutrition and Food, in order to contribute to value the Sciences of Nutrition
e) Provide technical support to members, namely with materials and content produced by the Association to help with their professional tasks;
f) Cooperate with different public and private entities for the correct pursuit of strategies and policies aimed at promoting healthy eating;
g) Promote and foster scientific, professional and technological relationships between Portuguese and foreign professionals and entities;
h) Promote the development and updating of knowledge, research and application of Nutrition and Food Sciences;
i) Organize and/or support the organization of congresses, conferences or other activities of a technical-scientific nature in the field of Nutrition and Food, aimed at professionals or the general population;
j) Edit and publish a scientific journal;
k) Promote and enhance the professional training of its associates with their own training.
